Who can be covered?

Your clients can cover them self, spouse and their children.  Our main aim is to cover the principal member and also provide benefits to their immediate family.
If they are covering their immediate family, such as their children and/or spouse, this is known as a family funeral benefit.
If children are over the age of 21, they will be considered as adults and they will have to pay a full premium on their own policy.  It is possible to have a child who is over 21 (but under 25) cover extended in the format of a student.  Proof must be provided of the latter.

 

When does cover start?

Membership will start on the first of the month after the first premium has been paid successfully and cover starts after the relevant waiting period has expired.

 

 

What is the waiting period?

In the case of death due to natural causes, you are required to wait six (6) months.  In the case of death due to unnatural causes, your funeral cover is valid after receipt of  your first premium.  In the event of suicide, the waiting period for your funeral cover will be 12 months.  The waiting periods are put in place to protect the policy holders of fraud and to protect us from fraudulent claims.  We follow the guidelines of the standard waiting periods to ensure we handle the risk adequately.

How long will my cover last?

The policy will remain active as long as you carry on paying the premium, once payments of the premium is stopped or the policy holder passes away the funeral policy cover will also end.  In the case of a spouse or child their cover will end upon the principal member passing or upon their passing.  Cover for children will end upon their passing or reaching the age of 21.  This is dependent on which occurs first.  Keeping funeral cover premiums up-to-date is the principal member’s responsibility and will ensure cover remain active.
